Gorland leads them to the closed door of Lilith’s room; upon opening it they find a rather simple room the colours of old wood and dusty grey stone. There do not seem to be many personal touches to the decor; though the bed is nicely made with cleanly tucked woollen sheets.
Gorland starts searching for the books and any other clues.. Perhaps copies of letters she sent to others, or received, any clue at all.
Goroh continues tailing Sir Lyndian, trying not to be noticed while doing so
Kansu searches with Gorland.
When Gorland searches the reading desk his first impression is that the evidence has been tampered with; many of the articles Lilith used to keep around have gone missing. However he is able to find a book of fairytales; its spine is well worn as if it has been opened and closed many times. He also finds a book on Lodir’s history, and a book on gem stones. There are also a few papers stringed together containing notes on the council of Azariel. There are a few crumpled papers in the waste basket is Gorland wishes to check them.
Gorland gathers everything of importance together on the text, like the books and the papers, then looks through the waste basket.
Soren enters the room only a moment later. "Anything interesting?"
Mina follows behind
<+Kansu> "Some books, apparently."
<+Gorland> "More than that..." he says as he looks through the wastebasket. "I'm growing more and more certain that our… employers don't want Lilith found. That Journal...For the king to be so careless is rather idiotic. For it to be a recent thing is even more idiotic. Why would the king be rereading the journal?"
<+Gorland> "And this.. Clues have been swept up, I believe.. Papers that she used to keep lying around.."
<+Gorland> "It just doesn't seem like it's in its natural state.."
Kansu nods, "Well you would know."
Soren nods. "Alright, well, where to from there?"
There are two crumpled papers in total. Both look to be the beginning of letters so gave up writing almost instantly. The first reads: Dear Cierra; Thank you so much for the-
The second simply says: Kalmamond. I apologize for my blunt behavior during your last visit-
<+Gorland> "...Okay. Two leads.. Someone named Ciera, and Kalmamond," he said, holding up the papers.
<+Gorland> "Cierra apparently gave her something, or did something for her. Perhaps took her somewhere. Kalmamond..I remember him vaguely. The letter says she was blunt during his last visit..I do recall him visiting at one point, during my guard. I was asked to leave the room."
<@Soren> "Are the letters dated at all?"
Gorland searches for any kind of dating.
As Goroh heads after Lyndian he follows him to the court gardens; Lyndian stops suddenly here and fiddles with his cufflink. He doesn’t seem to move anywhere, almost as if he is waiting here for something. By the moisture on his brow you can guess he is nervous.
There is no date on the letters.
Goroh pauses, withdrawing a bit incase he was spotted but watching carefully.
Mina walks toward the bed "Hmm..."
Soren frowns, crossing his arms. "Something the matter, Mina?"
Mina reaches forward and pulls two pieces of paper from under the pillow and one from under the mattress
<+Mina> "Hey everyone"
Gorland blinks and tilts head at paper. "Hrm?"
<+Kansu> "Find something?"
The parchment Mina pulls from under the pillow is folded into a square; it is covered in creases as if it has been folded many times, over many years. However apart from a few age spots and water stains the parchment is blank.
The paper under the mattress offers some resistance, and it takes Mina a moment to realize it is pinned by a book; perhaps this is where Lilith chose to hide things.
Sir Lyndian continues to stand where he is; it doesn't look like he has noticed Goroh; but whatever he is waiting for has not come yet.
Goroh hides and waits for whatever Sir Lyndian is waiting for, then
Mina passes it to Soren
<+Gorland> "Hrm.."
Gorland walks over and lifts the matress off the bed.
<@Soren> "Huh. That all...?"
There are a few trinkets hidden under the bed: a small bag of treats for Tedward, a book about planar travel, a few blank but worn pieces of parchment, a map of Ourenos, shards of a blue crystal... a cloth covered in dry blood, and her pendant.
Gorland blinks, staring at the bag of treats. "Tedward...."
Gorland eyes shift over the rest of the trinkets, blinking at the cloth. "Blood?...Hrm."
Gorland mind is obviously racing about a few things.
<+Kansu> "Planar travel?"
<+Gorland> "Yes..."
Kansu casts a small spell and looks around the room, particularly the found items.
Gorland starts gathering the rest of the items, setting them on the desk with the previously found items.
Gorland holds the treats in his hand still. "..Tedward..I wonder..."
Sir Lyndian sits on a bench, wiping his brow. "Where is it... I hope it has been delayed." he mumbles.
<+Mina> "So uh Soren what does the document say?"
<@Soren> "Stuff." HE shrugs. "Seriously, looks like there's nothing here."
Gorland starts looking again for any sign of Tedward, this time.
Gorland or any sign of him recently being around
<@Soren> "What else do we have here..." Soren sifts through the objects.
<+Kansu> "The blank pages are magic. As well as the pendant. And check under the bed."
Goroh sneaks up closer to Sir Lyndian, still staying out of sight
There doesn't seem to be any sign of Tedward.
Kansu checks under the bed.
<+Gorland> "You all remember her pet?..Tedward?..Think about this..See if you agree."
Under the bed Kansu finds a large puddle of dried blood; as well as Lilith’s staff and a small wooden box.
<+Gorland> "Would a kidnapper have taken Tedward along?"
Kansu drags the box and staff out from under the bed, "There's more blood. And these."
<+Gorland> "..More blood?"
Gorland seems to get nervous.
<@Soren> "What's in the box?"
Kansu opens the box.
In the box there is a small folded letter written in blood; it says "Jump."
Kansu ponders.
Mina looking a little impatient "Well?"
<+Kansu> "The paper may have its contents hidden by magic. The box... I think may be used to communicate with someone."
<+Gorland> "Doesn't the paper in that box say jump? Try jumping?"
<@Soren> "what, out the window?"
<+Kansu> "I'm sure she meant the receiver to jump. Not herself."
<+Gorland> "Does anything about any of this make perfect sense?"
<+Kansu> "Not to me."
The guard that was eating his lunch on the step earlier is now patrolling the hallway outside the door, walking back and forth, balk and forth.
Mina rubs her forehead with a look of slight frustration "Yeah, I'm drawing a blank here too"
<@Soren> "Alright, so the box can send things? Why don't we try it out, see what happens?"
Gorland rather suddenly transforms into a dog.
<+Kansu> "See, I'm not exactly sure how it works..."
<+Gorland> "Let me sniff that blood.."
Gorland sniffs the blood trying to determine if it was a scent he had experienced before.
Gorland would have paled if possible. "..Some of it is Lilith’s.. most of it is a scent I don't recognize.."
Gorland stalks over to the window, wagging tail. "Scent ends here...Disappears into the air.."
<+Gorland> "She was either kidnapped...Or ran away.."
Gorland goes back to the other scent, trying to detect where that ended.
<@Soren> "Ran away doesn't seem likely."
Goroh suddenly sees something... rather odd. In front of the nervous figure of Sir Lyndian a cloaked figure appears; so suddenly it almost looks that he was formed out of the very shadows dancing from the trees. ‘You are finally here.’ Says Lyndian in a muted voice. ‘It is my great displeasure to inform you we have some unexpected guests in the castle today. I king would prefer if you came to do business tomorrow evening.’
<+Gorland> "Perhaps not as unlikely as you think...The second scent in this blood stops here..As if it died here and was somehow removed."
Gorland goes back to the place where Lilith's scent dissappears, and attempts to pick up on any other scent at all that may have left with Lilith.. perhaps Tedwards.
Goroh watches and listens, staying hidden.
<+Gorland> "Tedward's scent leaves with her...They seem to have left together...However there are very faint traces of an unfamiliar scent..The scent is old and worn..Not as fresh as the other scents.."
Soren taps his foot, annoyed. "Can you be a little more specific?"
The cloaked figure raises an arm and runs a nail along Lyndian’s shoulder; leaving a thin trail on blue slime. ‘I do not like the city, Lyndian.’ It says in a long hiss; ‘I want to know the details of my hunt - tonight. And I want to know my payment. The whispers tell me it will be ever grander - than with her.’ He adds with drawn enthusiasm on the end.
<+Gorland> "You might as well ask the scents to come to life, do a little dance, and speak to you. I am telling you what I can. The attacker did not leave with Lilith. Lilith and Tedward left through that widnow. The only other scents around the window are old and worn."
Goroh listens intently; glad he decided to follow Lyndian
Lyndian looks up to the figure with a strike of fear in his eyes; ‘But you failed with her; didn’t you? After years of hunting - you were supposed to kill them both.’ He narrows his eyes; ‘Having the throne of Kama introduce an heir to Shakaku’s throne would not have happened if you had done your job.’ He crosses his arms and looks to the end of the bench as if it is the most interesting thing in the world; ‘I don’t know how I am supposed to bargain with you - you only ever deal with him, But... what we have to offer is the body of the man who defeated you.’
‘I don’t know how I am supposed to bargain with you - you only ever deal with him, But... what we have to offer is the body of the man who defeated you.’
Goroh wishes he had some form of magical recording device to record all of this as evidence right about now.
The cloaked figure looks taken aback for a moment, his eerie movements pause; ‘You have found him? How did you find him before me – I have been looking, ripping, killing... I could not catch the whisper of his name anywhere.’ Lyndian smirks and says ‘He came to us; or rather, to her. If you want more details... well, you will have to speak with Shakaku tomorrow evening.’
The guard in the hall peeks into the room briefly, and then goes back to striding along the hall.
<@Soren> "That all we have to poke around here for, then?"
<+Gorland> "Yes...Though I wish to examine everything else. HOwever I plan to stay in this form for awhile. Just incase I pick up on any of these scents around the castle."
The odd figure seems to hesitate for a moment, then pulls his long nails back into his sleeves; ‘Fine.’ He hisses; ‘I will come to speak to him about the details tomorrow.’ With that the figure departs much the same way he arrived.
<+Gorland> "The things that really interest me would be that map, and those informational books. She was definitely researching for some kind of goal."
<+Gorland> "Also that one person.. Cierra.. I'd like to find out if that person is located somewhere on the map."
Soren frowns, but says little. "That'd be good."
Goroh slips away from Sir Lyndian now that the figure has vanished
Lyndian sits still for a moment, as if waiting to make sure the figure is gone.
<+Gorland> "As its going.. It doesn't seem trustworthy around the castle. Therefore I suggest we study these items at the inn we'll be staying at. By the by, how many rooms did you acquire? I forgot to mention that I could sleep on the roof to save coin, not that I wouldn't pay you the coin.. Once I'm able to retrieve it from my person."
<@Soren> "Two or three. Enough for my companions, at least."
<+Gorland> "As peculiar a question as it seems.. Who DO you consider to be your companions at this time?"
Soren crosses his arms. "Who do you think, honestly?"
<+Gorland> "Quite honestly? You seem bitter towards Goroh and myself.. but markedly more so towards Goroh. So I'd have to say Kansu and Mina.."
Soren nods. "Then you are capable of observation after all."
<@Soren> "I have no interest in more companions - not after recently."
<+Gorland> "Fine. You be my companion with no requirement of considering me yours, at the very least until we recover Lilith.."
<@Soren> "Works for me."
<+Gorland> "But then we'll see where to go from there." If dogs could smirk, Gorland surely would have at this point in time.
